IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
DURRANI: Ahmad Shah, 1747-1772, AR nazarana mithqal (4.54g), Shahjahanabad (Delhi), year 14, A-3092D, Zeno-142386 (= Whitehead-172, in the British Museum), ahmad in a triple circle in the obverse center, the rest of his couplet around // standard mint/date formula around; outer border of leaves on both sides; all 3 known example were struck from the same pair of dies and all are mount removed; this is the finest of the 3 examples, VF-XF, RRRR. The second known piece was sold in our Auction 48, lot 606. It seems likely that this type was intended to be worn by the chief Durrani and other individuals, perhaps for the celebration of the second Durrani conquest of Delhi.
