EGYPT: AR matte finish medal (174.0g), 1927, 72mm, Visit of King Fuad to France, struck at Paris mint with dies by Vernier & Falize, marked ARGENT2 (.900 fine) on the edge: bust of King Fuad right // VISITE OFFICIELE / DE SA MAJESTE FOUAD 1 / ROI D'EGYPTE / A LA FRANCE / XX-XXII OCTOBRE / MCMXXVII, obelisk before the Arc de Triomphe, floral decor in front, of the utmost rarity, Unc, RRRR. Possibly unique, missing from the Farouk sale in this metal, also lacking in silver in all the major international museums (including the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and the National Collection of Egypt), no other specimen in silver found in the searchable internet. A single gold example was presented to Fuad himself, bronze made to be distributed to the delegation of Egypt and various dignitaries. A silver "touristique" medal of King Fuad dated 1933, also struck at Paris, sold in our Auction 24, Lot 2224, for $15,000.
