EGYPT: oxidized AE medal, 1955, 59mm, 150th anniversary of the birth of Ferdinand de Lesseps, by R.B. Baron, struck at the Paris Mint; head of De Lesseps left, dated 1805 1955 around // APERIRE TERRAM CENTIBUS, ship approaching, with two hands pulling apart the lands for the canal, AU, RR. De Lesseps was a diplomat, and became the developer of the Suez Canal, for which he signed an agreement with the Egyptian government to start the process in 1854. With an original case (in damaged condition).
