IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
EL SALVADOR: Republic, AR peso, 1914, KM-115.2, initials C.A.M. ("Central American Mint"), wide shoulder variety, a lovely coin with only a handful of barely noticeable hairlines, Unc. Minting in El Salvador came to an end in 1896. Due to high production costs, minting coins locally turned out to be a bad deal for the Salvadoran government; the old mint building was then occupied by National Printing. The subsequent production of silver coins was made by various mints in Europe and the United States until 1914. These issues were still carrying the initials C.A.M. (Central American Mint).
