ENGLAND: Charles I, 1625-1649, cast AR medal, 74mm silver medal to commemorate the Marriage of Princess Mary to William of Orange by Johann Blum, Mary and William join hands with cherubs and radiant dove above, with palace in background at lower left, Latin legend to left and right, and LONDINI DESPONSATI WILGELM'ET MARIA, ANO 1641. 12 MAJ. in exergue // Pallas receiving an olive branch from Peace, with BELLONAM PRINCEPS PALLAS PEDIBUS TERIT ET PAX FLORET, ET ALMA CERES, CONFERT SACRO ALITE FRUGES above and NOUI IMPERII AUSPICIO BONO in exergue, dark patina with nice contrast on obverse, small hole plugged at top, with small repair at 3:30, VF, RR. Princess Mary was the second child and eldest daughter of Charles I and Henrietta Maria. The marriage took place at the Chapel Royal, Whitehall Palace. She travelled to the Netherlands the following year and was also appointed Princess Royal in 1642.
