FATIMID: al-'Aziz, 975-996, AR 1/2 dirham (1.22g), al-Mu'izziya, AH370, A-705, Nicol, bold date, mint name somewhat crudely engraved, as on most of the al-Mu'izziya dirhams of al-Mu'izz; this is the first known example of the al-Mu'izziya mint for al-'Aziz; one small flan defect; unique and unpublished, VF, RRRR. The mint called al-Mu'izziya was the city of Taormina on the east coast of Sicily, conquered by the Fatimid forces in AH351 (962 AD) and renamed "al-Mu'izziya" after the current Imam al-Mu'izz. The mint operated AH353-364, and now also reported for 370 under al-'Aziz.
