FATIMID: al-Mu'izz, 953-975, AR 1/2 dirham (1.17g), al-Mu'izziya, AH362, A-699, Nicol-382, bold mint & date, the clearest example of the mint name that we have ever seen; small hole and partial crack, choice VF, RRR. The mint called al-Mu'izziya was the city of Taormina on the east coast of Sicily, conquered in AH351 (962 AD) and renamed "al-Mu'izziya" after the current Imam al-Mu'izz. The mint operated AH353-364, closed by the death of al-Mu'izz in AH365.
