FATIMID: al-Musta'li, 1094-1101, BI dirham aswad (1.01g), MM, DM, A-727, the name Ahmad clear at the top of the obverse, his formal name al-Musta'li clear in the 4th line of the obverse, decent strike for this reign, Fine to VF, R. From this reign to the end of the dynasty, the billon coins are rather crudely produced "black dirhams". Most are grossly struck on irregular flans of variable thickness and shape, showing only partial inscriptions.
