FATIMID: al-Qa'im, 934-946, AR local dirham (1.67g), mint undeciphered, AH33x, A-693F, in the name of the Fatimid caliph Muhammad Abu'l-Qasim on the obverse and the name the al-Imam al-Mahdi on the reverse (standard for coins of al-Qa'im), but without the name of al-Qa'im himself, fine style, similar to contemporary dirhams of the Banu Ifran and Banu Khazar, two of the Zanata tribes in the region of Algeria; slightly uneven surfaces, unpublished and of the highest rarity, VF, RRRR. This is likely an issue of one of the Zanata tribes, either the Ifran and Khazar tribes that issued coins or another tribe that is not known for coins, struck in the name of the Fatimid ruler honoring military assistance against the threatened invasion of the Umayyad of Spain forces or of another Zanata or related tribe.
