FORMER SHU: Tong Zheng, 907-918, AE cash (2.51g), H-15.33, a rare type with crescent above and dot below on reverse, Fine, R, ex Adam Yeung Collection. Issued by Wang Jian, the founding emperor of the Chinese Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period state of Earlier (Former) Shu. He started his career as an army officer under the Tang Dynasty eunuch generals Yang Fuguang and Tian Lingzi, eventually seizing control of the modern Sichuan and Chongqing region, founding his state after the Tang's destruction.
