FORMER SHU: Xian Kang, 925, AE cash (3.13g), H-15.46, an attractive example for type, Fine. This type is part of a series of coins issued by Wang Jian of the Wang family and were often of a very poor quality. Wang Jian began his career as a village thief; he enlisted as a soldier, rose through the ranks, and by 901 was virtually an independent ruler, with his capital at Chengdu in Sichuan. His regime provided a peaceful haven for artists and poets.
