FRANCE: AE medal, 1888, 50mm bronze medal by Henri Dubois for the Union of French Military Training Societies; the obverse shows the relief "Departure of the Volunteers 1792", also called "La Marseillaise", created by François Rude in 1833 for the Arc de Triomphe // UNION DES SOCIETES D'INSTRUCTION MILITAIRE DE FRANCE, Marianne observes drills and target practice, young boy at left with sword, empty dedication plaque below, BRONZE and privy mark on edge. The French medallist Henri Dubois (1859-1930) was born in Rome nad studied with his father Alphée Dubois, Chapu and Falguière.
