FRANCE: AE plaque (248.6g), Paris, 1922, Maier-242, 92x67mm bronze plaque for the Tricentennial of the Birth of Molière by G.H. Prud'homme, bust of Molière slightly right with MOLIERE above within large medallion with laurel branches around and a cartouche below comprising a shield with mirrors surmounted by a theater mask flanked by two monkeys // the muse of the comedy Thalia standing on the right, crowning Molière with laurel as he is seated at a desk rereading a text with "TRI-CENTENAIRE / 1622 DE MOLIÈRE 1922" in exergue, BRONZE with cornucopia privy mark on edge, Choice Unc. The cartouche on the obverse directly refers to the house where Molière was born, called the Pavillon des Singes because the corner post that decorates it represents monkeys on an orange tree, at the corner of the rue Saint-Honoré and the rue des Vieilles-Étuves, or 96 rue Saint-Honoré.
