Antoine Portal (1742-1832) was a French anatomist, doctor, medical historian and founding president of the Académie Nationale de Médecine. For his accomplishments, he was elevated by Napoleon to the rank of Knight of the Empire in 1808 in spite of his feud with Napoleon's personal physician, Jean-Nicolas Corvisart.
