FRANCE: Aire: Siege Issue, AR 25 sols, 1710, KM-15.2, uniface octagonal klippe issued during the siege of Aire, issued by governor Marechal de Goesbriant during the War of the Spanish Succession, PCGS graded EF45. The Siege of Aire-sur-la-Lys in 1710 was a significant event during the War of the Spanish Succession, where Allied forces (Grand Alliance) under the command of the Prince of Anhalt-Dessau, and later Marlborough, besieged the French-held city from early September to early November 1710, ultimately forcing its surrender and securing a key victory for the Allies against France.
