REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS around bust of King right // MONSMELIANUS CAPTUS above Victory seated on mortars next to flags as she writes on shield, view of City and Castle upon a hill in background, a wonderful mint state example! PCGS graded MS64. This medal celebrates the capture of the town and fortress of Montmélian during the Nine Years' War in Piedmont-Savoy, as part of French King Louis XIV's campaign against Victor Amadeus, the Duke of Savoy, who had sided with the Grand Alliance the previous year.
