FRANCE: Louis XIV, 1643-1715, billon 30 deniers, Metz, 1710-AA, Ra-378.1, a lovely mint state example! PCGS graded MS63. Known as "Mousquetaire" because of the cross of the lapel, the coins minted in Metz were only used in the province of the Three Bishoprics, in Alsace, and in the border region of the Ardennes, mainly for the pay of the troops on campaign. Those struck in Lyon were used in the rest of the kingdom and in the American colonies.
