FRANCE: Napoleon III, 1852-1870, AE medal, ND (1860), Divo-257, lovely chocolate patina, PCGS graded Specimen 64. The Palais de l'Industrie (Palace of Industry) was an exhibition hall located in Paris between the Seine River and the Champs-Élysées, which was erected for the Paris World Fair in 1855. It represented the nationalistic effort of Emperor Napoleon III to rival architectural prowess of the British Crystal Palace erected for the Great Exhibition four years prior.
