FRENCH INDIA: AR rupee (11.59g), Arkat, year 3 (1750), KM-8, struck in the name of Ahmad Shah Bahadur, a lovely lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS63. In 1745, the French Indies Company (Compagnie française des Indes orientales) successfully obtained the right from the Nawab of Arcot to strike Mughal-style silver rupees and most were struck at the mint in Pondicherry with the Arkat mint name.
