GERMANY: Allied Occupation, 5 reichspfennig, 1947-D, KM-A105, J-374, an attractive lustrous mint state example, PCGS graded MS62. During World War II the north wing of the building was almost completely destroyed by an air mine and bombs on 17 December 1944 and 7 January 1945. In 1945, the Allied Control Council took over the administration of the mint. The first German post-war coin issue was in 1947, when due to the shortage of small change, 5 pfennig pieces were minted on zinc planchets.
