GERMANY: LOT of 76 bonds, a scarce group of "Timber Bonds" from the Free State of Baden, Municipality of Vöhrenbach. Trustee-eligible, value-stable "Timber Bond" dated October 9, 1923. Bond certificates denominated in cubic meters of timber including 1/4 solid cubic meter (12), and 1/2 solid cubic meter (64) of Class III coniferous commercial timber, some include partial interest coupons and other loose interest coupons, average quality examples, retail value $800, lot of 76 stock. The capital raised through this issuance was utilized for the construction of the Linach Dam. The Linachtalsperre (Linach Dam), located near Vöhrenbach in the Black Forest of Germany, is a historic, heritage-protected dam built between 1922 and 1925. It is notable as the first and only vaulted arched dam (a specific type of reinforced concrete arch dam) in Germany, featuring a unique sloping water side. These are the first bonds we have handled that are denomination in hard goods instead of cash due to the hyperinflation that occurred in Germany in 1923. Very interesting!
