GERMANY: Republic, AR medal (25g), Bavarian State Mint, 1965, 40mm silver medal by German engraver Helmut Diller (1911-1984) marked with HD for the state visit of Elizabeth II in May 1965, Elisabeth II in diadem bust three-quarters right // "in commemoration of the state visit may 1965" in five lines, star beneath, bayer hauptmunzamt 6 on edge, a superb lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS66. Born on October 26, 1911 in Stuttgart, Germany during his life Helmut Diller has amassed a wealth of experience as a portraitist, landscapist and wood sculptor. Many exhibitions in Europe and the USA have featured his work. His perfection in anatomy as well as natural poses are demonstrated in all of his creations, such as eagles, flamingos, deer, stag, antelopes, gazelles, buffalos, leopards and other animals of prey, as well as the domesticated animals, cattle and horses.
