GERMANY: Weimar Republic, AR medal (19.14g), 1928, 36mm unsigned silver medal for the 150th anniversary of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn; 1778 FRIEDRICH LUDWIG JAHN 1928 around bust facing slightly right, wearing coat // LEIBESÜBUNG IST DIENST AM VATERLANDE / VON HINDENBURG legend around "Turnerkreuz" within quadratic plaque; in fields around, oak branches, BAYER. HAUPTMÜNZAMT SILBER 900F on edge. The "Turnerkreuz" is the logo of the German Turner movement of the 19th century and is still used by the Deutscher Turner-Bund (DTB), the umbrella organisation of the german gymnastics societies. It consists of four large F, standing for the motto "Frisch, fromm, fröhlich, frei", arranged in a cross-shaped form.
