GERMANY: Weimar Republic, porcelain medal, 1922, Scheuch-488w, 51mm white porcelain medal with black highlights by Emil Paul Börner, Berlin "Hungertaler" (hunger thaler) type; "GOTT BESSERE DIE ZEIT UND LÄUFFTE / HUNGERTALER 1922", around a woman with a child in her lap and arms outstretched pleading for help // GROSSE TEURUNG SCHLECHTE NAHRUNG around winter oak tree without foliage, made at the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, a fantastic quality example! PCGS graded MS66. Emil Paul Börner (1888-1970) was a German painter, sculptor, and medalist who also worked for the Meissen porcelain manufactory. Hardly any other artist of his time even came close to achieving his almost unstoppable productivity and creativity during the so-called "Pfeiffer era" (1918–1933).
