GOA: PERNEM: AV medallet (2.01g), Inscriptions only, both sides: vasudev panyan / san - smaran, the last part meaning "in memory of " // sha. 1837 deshprabhu sa. 1915, with the city name pedne in the center (Marathi version of the name of Pernem), trace of mount, noticable mainly on the edge, EF, RRR. The Deshprabhus were an important family in Goa, with the palace at Pernum. Several members bore the name of Vasudev Panyan, and presumably one of these was born in 1837 and passed away in 1915. Pernem/Pedne is now the northernmost town in the State of Goa.
