GHAZNAVID: Mas'ud III, 1099-1115, BI jital (2.88g), Farwân, ND, A-1649F, royal legend // mint name above bull; cannot be Mas'ud I, as the title sultan was not introduced by the Ghaznavids until about AH465 by Ibrahim, more than 30 years after the death of Mas'ud I; the first reported late Ghaznavid coin from the mint of Farwan; unique and unpublished, VF-XF, RRR. It is known from historical sources that Mas'ud III made several military raids against the Great Seljuq territories, including areas north of Farwan.
