GHAZNAVID: Sultan al-Dawla Arslanshah, 1116-1117, AV dinar (2.70g) (Ghazna), AH509, A-V1650, extremely rare date, clear on this piece, VF, RRR, ex Yusuf Alokozay Collection. Until this collection became available, no gold coins were known for Arslanshah, who only ruled for a very short time. His dinars are dated either AH509 (only 2 or 3 known) or more commonly AH510, the the majority of all his dinars have the date off flan or illegibly engraved. The type will be added to the 4th edition of the Checklist of Islamic coins as type V1650.
