GOLDEN HORDE: Toqtamish, 1376-1395, AR dirham (1.18g), Balad, ND, A-2048, mint name on reverse, within complex border created by overlapping a hexagram on a hexafoil, choice Very Fine, R.

“Balad” on this piece refers to Qrim. “Balad” means “city”, and referred to a location presumably near Bulghar in the early Golden Horde coinage. But it is now known to be an alternative for “Qrim” by the time of Toqtamish. Cf. Zeno #62550 and 78762 for the necessary evidence.
