GREAT BRITAIN: Victoria, 1837-1901, AE medal, 1886, BHM-3209, Eimer-1725, 52mm bronze medal by Leonard Wyon for the "Colonial & Indian Exhibition", head of the Prince of Wales left, around ALBERT EDWARD PRINCE OF WALES EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT; below head, L.C.WYON F. // within wreath COLONIAL / AND INDIAN / EXHIBITION / LONDON / 1886, a wonderful chocolate-brown specimen example! PCGS graded Specimen 64. The Colonial & Indian Exhibition was held at South Kensington, London, from May 4 to November 20, 1886. About 5000 of these Indian & Colonial Exhibition medals were struck. They were engraved by Leonard Wyon and minted in Birmingham by Heaton's, who charged £145 per 1000 medals. The medals were presented with a diploma to each person who took part in the Indian and Colonial exhibition. The recipient's names were not inscribed.
