GREAT MONGOLS: Chingiz Khan, 1206-1227, AR dirham (3.14g), [Ghazna], ND, A-1967, citing Chingiz Khan in his name, dies A1/B1 (Zeno die classification), one of the finest specimens I've ever seen, choice ef, plus an example of the prototype, also ef, lot of 2 coins. Derived from the previous issue in the name of 'Ala al-Din Muhammad, the Khwarizmshah ruler until AH617 (1220 AD). Believed struck during the Mongol march through Ghazna against Mangubarni b. Muhammad, the last Khwarizmshah, then fleeing towards the Indus River in India. An example of the common prototype (#1721) is included in this lot.
