GREAT MONGOLS: Chingiz Khan, 1206-1227, AV dinar (3.38g) (Bukh)ara, ND, A-1964, chingiz khan / al-'adil / al-a'zam in obverse field, lovely Very Fine, RRR, ex. Tony Ettinger collection, Busso Peus auction 378-379, August 2004, lot #1407, now Zeno-5001.
The following description appeared in the Peus sale: Only two types of gold dinars of Chingiz Khan are known on which his name can be read. The first from the mint of Ghazna and dated 618 H was found in about 100 specimen in an Afghan hoard of 1996, the second from Bukhara was represented in an Iranian hoard around 1970 with about five coins of the present type. It is now believed that the 1996 hoard contained 150-200 specimens of the Ghazna 618 type, all from the same pair of dies. Steve Album purchased a Bukhara example at the Los Angeles coin fair early 1970s, probably for about $50, which was likely not far below its retail value at the time. A third dinar type with his name has subsequently been discovered (the previous lot of Balkh mint).

(1) All lots are guaranteed genuine. All certified items are guaranteed by the respective grading service's authenticity guarantee. Any person removing a lot from a sealed certified holder has voided any and all authenticity guarantees from Stephen Album Rare Coins Auctions.
(2) Buyer's premium will be 18% of the hammer price and added to the hammer price of each lot. Any successful bids defined on your bid sheet will have 18% added for the buyer's premium. Shipping and insurance is extra and not included. There are no minimum bids required. NOTE: Buyer's premium will be lowered to 15% if paying by cash or cash equivalent.
(3) Bids may be placed by fax, mail, here on iCollector.com, or by telephone (for telephone bidding you must register at least 3 days in advance). You may also check the status of your mail bids up to 24 hours before the start of the sale.
(4) Any person placing bids in the auction agrees to be bound by the terms of sale and guarantees payment for any successful bid.
(5) California sales tax of 9.50% will apply to all deliveries inside California which total under $1,500 unless a valid resale card is on file before lots are shipped.
(6) Personal checks must clear our bank before lots are delivered. Stephen Album Rare Coins retains title until full payment has cleared our bank. Payment in full is required before any lots will be shipped.
(7) Buyer agrees to pay within 14 days of receipt of invoice or notification of results. Payments made later than 30 days from auction date will incur interest charges of 1% per month on the unpaid balance, or the maximum allowed by law if exceeding the interest rate permitted by law, calculated from the auction date.
(8) Delivery outside the USA will be by USPS registered mail or by FedEx and will include insurance on all shipments. Any claims of loss or damage will only be paid by Stephen Album Rare Coins only after the insurers investigation is complete.
(9) No warranty is made with respect to the lot descriptions. Lot descriptions are given to identify lots for bidders unable to view the lots.
(10) Stephen Album Rare Coins Auctions reserves the right to cancel or modify any sale in the event of non-payment, or errors concerning reserves or exercising bids.
(11) In the event of a dispute, the buyer agrees to resolve the issue by third-party arbitration replacing the right to go to court. Any damages or claims are agreed by buyer not to exceed the amount paid for the lots.
(12) Stephen Album Rare Coins are not approval sales. No lots may be returned due to disagreement with grading opinions given in the descriptions. Lots may only be returned for significant undisclosed problems or authenticity as defined in #1 above. Third party certified (slabbed) items may not be returned for any reason other than authenticity as defined in #1 above.
