GUATEMALA: Republic, AR quetzal, 1925, KM-242, struck at the United States Mint, Philadelphia, tooled, scarce, PCGS graded UNC details, ex Almer H. Orr III Collection. This rare one-year type had an original mintage of 10,000 but in 1927 and 1928 an estimated 7,000 were withdrawn and melted down. And in 1932 an unknown number was melted as well, leaving fewer than 3,000 in existence.
