GUPTA: Kumaragupta I, 414-455, AV stater (8.12g), Altekar, plate XI, 14-15, swordsman type, king / deity Lakshmi, bold strike, one of the rarest types of Kumaragupta I, Extremely Fine, RRR. Obverse: Kumaragupta standing, his left hand resting on the hilt of his sword, right hand offering incense, with the Garuda standard behind. The obverse inscription translates to "having conquered the earth, Kumaragupta (also) wins the heaven by his meritorious acts" (translation by Altekar), with the letter "ku" and a crescent to the right. Reverse: Lakshmi seated on a lotus, holding a noose in her right hand, the Gupta tamgha to the left, the inscription to the right, which is a repeat of the king's name. Appears to be die-identical to Altekar XI:14.
