GUPTA: Prakasaditya, ca. 496-510, AV dinar (9.47g), Mitch-, Altekar: plate XV:14/15; Kumar: variety C, Hoseman Lion-Slayer type: king mounted on caparisoned horse, stooping down to thrust his sword through the mouth of a lion rearing up before the horse, Brahmi letter Ru or U beneath // Lakshmi seated cross-legged on lotus, king's name to the right; bold XF, RRR. Pankaj Tandon ("The Identity of Prakasaditya," Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, Volume 24, Issue 4, October 2014, pp. 557-572) has argued that Prakasaditya was in fact the Huna king Toramana I, who ruled ca. 490-515. This argument continues to be questioned by various scholars, so we have followed Kumar's assignment to the Gupta Prakasaditya.
