GWALIOR: SABALGARH: Daulat Rao, 1794-1827, AR rupee (10.77g), Sabalgarh, AH1198 year 34, KM-—, in the name of Shah Alam II, mace & axe on reverse, rare variety, bold EF to About Unc, R, ex Paul Stevens Collection. Attribution to Sabalgarh is tentative. See the article by Shailendra Bhandare in JONS, volume 198 (winter 2009). The mint name itself reads either falus or filusa, perhaps a reference to Jean Baptiste Filose, who conquered Sabalgarh for Gwalior in 1810. The meaning of the dates & regnal years is conjectural.
