HEPHTHALITE: Vasu Deva & Mardan Shah, after 624, AR drachm (3.23g), Zabulistan, year 35 (frozen), G-216, Mitch-1563, facing bust of Khusro / facing bust of sun-god, inscriptions in Pahlavi & Brahmi, c/s boar's head (#106) in obverse field, cleaned, Very Fine, R, ex. William F. Spengler. This type is derived from the regnal year 35 Anahita drachm of Khusraw II, which corresponds to AD 625. This type was probably struck several decades thereafter, perhaps as late as the 660s or 670s. Zabulistan was the region around the modern city of Ghazni in Afghanistan.
