Issued by Charles Decaen, Governor General of Pondicherry and Isle de France (now Mauritius) et île Bonaparte (now Réunion) using silver ingots plundered from the Dutch ship Ouvidor by the French corsair Pierre Bouvet of l'Entreprenant.
