ILKHAN: Arghun, 1284-1291, AR dirham (2.20g), Tus, AH(6)88, A-2156.1, lion to right, Very Fine. The "animal" types of Arghun and other early Ilkhan rulers are struck only at mints in northeastern Iran, always crudely struck. There are also a few extremely rare issues in the name of Ghazan Mahmud struck at western Anatolian mints by the beylik rulers.
