ILKHAN: Hulagu, 1256-1265, AR dirham (2.64g), Hamâh, AH(65)8, A-2124, weak strike, quite common for this type, struck during the very short Ilkhan presence in Syria, which lasted only a few months, Fine to VF, RR. On this remarkable type, Hulagu is described as "the conqueror of the coast (al-basita) by the grace of his brother Möngke, the Great Qa'an." The coast refers to the Mediterranean, which of course he never quite reached!
