ILKHAN: Uljaytu, 1304-1316, AE fals (4.54g), Sultaniya, AH713, A-2190B, 'adl-i shahr-i sultaniya around obverse, tali'-i sal-i 'aqrab sana 713 around reverse, cast fabric, resembling contemporary Yuan dynasty Chinese cash but without central hole, Uighur monogram in center, VF, RRR. This piece is a commemorative type issued in conjunction with the dedication of the new capital of Sultaniya, northwest of Qazwin and recently restored by the Islamic government of Iran. The reverse Persian text means "fortunate year of the scorpion, year 713". A similar example sold at Stephen Album Auction 14, Lot 699, for $700.
