ILYASID: Abu 'Ali Muhammad b. Ilyas, 938-966, AR dirham (2.76g), Bardasir, AH334, A-C1587, citing the caliph al-Mustakfi, the first known example of Muhammad b. Ilyas for the mint of Bardasir, tough of central weakness, EF, RRRR. Muhammad b. Ilyas abdicated in 967, succeeded by his son Ilyasa', who surrendered to the Buwayhids during the following year. A dirham of Ilyasa' (probably dated 357) was struck at Bardasir, recorded in Peus Auction 386. Bardasir was active for a few Arab-Sasanian drachms and Umayyad dirhams dated 79 & 82, then inactive until this unique piece was struck in AH334, later a moderately scarce mint for the Buwayhids and the Seljuqs of Kirman.
