INDIAN SULTANATES: Uncertain ruler, BI tanka (9.57g), AH852, Goron-MU19, cf. Zeno-264522, imitative Arabic calligraphy on both sides, clear date at obverse bottom, a very nice example of this interesting type, EF, R. Goron does not assign this type to any dynasties due to its lack of legible inscriptions. He speculates it was issued by a local dynasty near Delhi in the wake of the Timurid invasion. Some have tentatively attributed it to the Tomaras of Gwalior, a Rajput dynasty that ruled the Gwalior Fort and surrounding areas during 14th-16th centuries.
