INDO-GREEK: Eukratides I, ca. 170-145 BC, AR tetradrachm (16.93g), Bop-8x, heroic portrait of the king, shown from behind, wearing the Boiotian helmet and holding the javelin / the two Dioscuri, with palms and lances, on horseback, lovely Very Fine, R. This is one of the most remarkable types of the Indo-Greek series, a wonderful design that has been copied until modern times. This piece has a few small flan cracks, having been deeply struck in order to emphasize the bold design, probably because the planchet was insufficiently heated. All and all, a lovely example of this remarkable type. The monogram on the reverse is not listed by Bopearachchi on this type (his monogram #159, which appears on other coins of Eukratides I).
