BALI: AR cash (4.29g), ca. 18th-19th century, made from a 1735 Holland 6 stuiver (scheepjesschelling), with Chinese cash-style center hole for stringing, extremely rare, some adhesions, VF. East Asian cash coins (known locally as pis bolong) circulated widely in Bali for centuries and were still in use well after the introduction of the rupiah. According to the consignor, some Western silver coins were holed in a similar manner for stringing and circulated in Bali and parts of eastern Java.
