IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
BORNEO: He Shun Gongsi, tin cash (4.66g), ca. 1780-1808, cf. Zeno-247341, Yih & de Kreek-20 (NC 1993), Chinese legend he shun gong si // imitative Manchu inscriptions, small casting hole, VF. He Shun Gongsi was established in 1776 when 14 smaller mining societies (gongsi) united into one federation. It became one of the largest gongsi republics and dominated gold mining in the Montrado region. Its success brought it into conflict with the Dutch, who waged two wars against it in 1822-24 and 1850-54, culminating in its surrender and dissolution in July 1854. Subsequently, most coins issued by the gongsi were melted down.
