MALUKA: AE duit (2.07g), AH1228, KM-11, Cr-15, Zeno-, Western numeral 1 over Jawi duit separated by a line, floret below, star in each corner // 1228 in Arabic numerals above line, wreath around, partial weak strike, faint porosity, F-VF, RRR. We can find no other examples of this extremely rare type in auction records. Maluka is a private estate in southern Borneo founded by the Englishman Alexander Hare in 1812, who acquired it through a grant from the sultan of Banjarmasin. It struck coins at a local mint in 1812 and 1813. The state ceased to exist when the area was repossessed by the Dutch in 1818.
