IRAN: Mohammad Reza Shah, 1941-1979, AV medal (3.31g), SH1349 (1970), for the birth of the princess Leila Pahlavi on 7 Farvardin SH1349 (27 March 1970) in text only // names of the prophet Muhammad, his daughter Fatima, and the first three Shi'ite Imams 'Ali Hasan Husayn; by style and calligraphy this was struck at the Tehran mint; the reverse type was also used on various common silver and base metal religious tokens, Brilliant Unc, RRR. We have found no reference to this piece in the literature or on CoinArchives and related sources. Leila left Iran at the time of the revolution in 1979, died of suicide in London in 2001.
