IRAN: Muzaffar al-Din Shah, 1896-1907, AV medal, AH1317, KM-MV29, "Medal of Valor", mount removed, PCGS graded EF details. This type of award medal was instituted by Nasir al-Din Shah about AH1289 (1872), the earliest year recorded by Rabino for award medals. The first issues were crudely struck in both silver and gold. Later during his reign, the medals were struck by modern machine presses, as this piece. Nearly all pieces were mounted for display.
