IRAQ: Kingdom, AE order, Order of the Two Rivers (Wisam al-Rafidain), Knight (Faris) class, with ribbon of the civil division, with original British Garrard Company Ltd., London case of issue, XF, ex Joseph E. Lang Collection. The Order of the Two Rivers was an Order that was instituted by King Faisal I of the Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq. It was named after the two rivers, the Euphrates and Tigris, that flow through the middle of the country. It was initially awarded by the kings of Iraq between 1922 when the monarchy was established, and 1958 when the monarchy ended. It had five classes and two divisions (military and civil). It is nscribed al-mamlikat al-'iraqiya at top obverse ("Kingdom of Iraq") and hubb al-watan min al-aymân ("patriotism from trust") below on obverse, and is gilt and enameled. "Hubb al-watan" literally means "love of the country," i.e., "patriotism." With date AH1340 on reverse.
