IRELAND: James II, 1685-1689, AE 1/2 crown (30 pence), Dublin Mint, 1689 (Oct), KM-95, Spink-6579E, 33mm large size issue, "gunmoney", a remarkable example of this popular Civil War coinage, NGC graded MS62. The name "gun money" stems from the idea that they were minted from melted down guns. However, many other brass objects, such as church bells, were also used.
